There is nothing uglier in the decoration of a kitchen than having a dirty toaster in the middle of the decoration of this room. For this reason, it is very important that for the good decoration of your home, exactly the kitchen, you always have a very clean toaster.
Whether you use your toaster a lot or only occasionally, you need to know how to clean it so that it looks great in your kitchen décor. You don't have to keep it for each use, if it's clean it can be a wonderful decorative accessory. How often to clean a toaster If you use the toaster daily, weekly cleaning is best to remove crumbs and any food residue that could cause a burnt taste or start a fire. If you have a toaster oven, you know they are used for much more than toasting, they need cleaning frequently. If you only use the oven to make toast, the weekly cleaning will be more than enough. However, if you heat food or grill other food, the oven, especially the food tray, must be cleaned after each use. What do you need for cleaning?
Unplug and cool the toaster Before attempting to clean the toaster, always unplug it first. Inserting anything, except food, into a toaster while it is plugged in can cause electric shock or fire. Once the toaster is unplugged, let it cool completely before you start cleaning. Shake off the crumbs Move the toaster to a trash can or hold over a sink with a garbage disposal. If the appliance has a removable bottom tray or a bottom that opens, open it and use a pastry brush to remove the crumbs from the toaster and place them in the trash can. Turn the toaster upside down and shake the crumbs from the toast slots in the trash can. Make a cleaning solution In a sink or container, mix a solution of warm water and dishwashing liquid. If your toaster has a removable crumb tray, dip the tray in soapy water and wash it well with a sponge or dish towel. Rinse the tray with clean water and dry with an absorbent cloth. You will want to choose a dishwashing liquid that contains a degreaser for the best cleaning results. The degreaser will cut through any build-up more quickly. Brush the crumbs from the inside With the crumb tray removed, use the pastry brush to reach for the crumbs that are still clinging to the inside of the toaster. If possible, work from the top and bottom of the device. Cleaning the exterior of the toaster Dip a sponge or dishcloth in the soapy water to clean the outside of the toaster. Squeeze out most of the water so that the sponge is damp. Pay particular attention to the dials or levers on the controls, as well as the handles. You may be able to remove the dials so they can be washed in the soapy solution. When the exterior is clean, wipe with a sponge dipped in clean water to remove any soap residue. Dry the appliance well with a soft microfiber cloth. To make the exterior of a stainless steel toaster shine, use a commercial stainless steel cleaner or dampen a clean cloth with a little white distilled vinegar and wipe the exterior to remove stains and leave a streak-free shine. Reassemble the toaster To finish the cleaning process, replace the crumb tray, reset the dials to your favorite setting, and plug in the toaster. How to clean a toaster oven? Since a toaster oven is often used for heating and cooking food, as well as for toasting bread, the interior needs more extensive cleaning. Unplug the oven Always unplug the appliance and make sure it is completely cool before starting the cleaning process. Remove and clean components Most ovens have a removable cooking tray and rack. Once removed these can be washed with warm soapy water or placed in the dishwasher. If food is stuck, allow the components to soak overnight in soapy water for easy cleaning. Shake off the crumbs Move the toaster oven to a trash can or sink. Open the bottom, if possible, and give it a good stir to remove crumbs and food particles. Use a pastry brush to brush the crumbs that stick to greasy surfaces. Mix a cleaning solution Mix two cups of very warm water, a few drops of dishwashing liquid, and 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar. It can be tempting to grab a commercial oven cleaner to tackle the inside of a toaster oven. That's a bad idea because most interiors are made of aluminium, and oven cleaner can damage aluminium. Cleaning the interior Dip a sponge into the solution to clean the inside of your toaster oven. Make sure to wring out the sponge so it's damp but not dripping. Clean each interior surface (walls, floor, and ceiling) by rinsing the sponge frequently. If there is burned food that won't move, make a paste of baking soda and a few drops of water. Dip a plastic scrubber or melamine sponge into the paste and rub lightly. Never use steel wool or any excessively abrasive scrapers. Do not try to clean the heating elements and try not to get them too wet during cleaning. Make the glass door shine Most toaster ovens have a glass window in the door. To cut off any fat and make it shine, use high-strength distilled white vinegar. Spray or wipe on the glass and let it sit for a few minutes. Wipe clean with a soft cloth for a streak-free shine. Clean the exterior The same cleaning solution used for the interior can be used to clean the exterior of the toaster oven. Use a soft sponge that won't spoil the finish. At the end with a soft cloth sprayed only with vinegar to make the stainless steel shine. Don't forget to clean the controls. If the dials can be removed, they can be washed in warm soapy water, rinsed, and dried thoroughly before reassembling. When everything is clean and dry, put everything back together and you can plug the oven back in to use it.
